Does Medical Romance Make Your Temperature Rise?
Doctor Alexandra Ross loves her job in the ER of Vancouver's St. Joe’s Hospital.
She loves her policeman husband, Sergeant Cameron Ross.
But Cameron isn’t telling her the whole truth about the dangers of his undercover work.
Alex doesn’t know that the transfer to a small inland town can be a life or death issue for Cam.
The love of her life is changing the life she loves--and he won't tell her why.
If she wants her marriage to work, she’ll have to move with him, give up the excitement and challenge of the ER to become a GP in a hospital where no one seems to want her services. And that means leaving behind an injured brother who needs her, and a group of co-workers who’ve become her family.
Can she accept a new way of life, and a new kind of husband?
This is the first in the enthralling Emergency series.
Number two is FULL RECOVERY.
AUTHOR INTERVIEW WITH BOBBY
What made you write a medical romance series?
I have three rambunctious sons, and with shocking regularity I visited Emergency rooms when they were growing up. I was impressed by the controlled chaos, the efficiency of the people who worked there. And I adore medical sitcoms. I also had friends who were doctors and nurses, invaluable for research.
Who is your favorite character in this book?
That would be a minor character named Thea. Strong and smart, beautiful and determined, she won't take any number of no's for an answer.
I hope you love this series. Join me on facebook here https//www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=bobby%20hutchinson%2C%20romance%20writer

Dr. Alexandra "Alex" Ross loves her job in the ER department, and she's happily married to Sgt Cameron Ross of the Narc squad. However, when Ross's superior, who has a drug habit, endangered one of the undercover cops under Ross, Ross turned him into internal affairs... and earned the hatred of the entire force for being a rat. With no one to watch his back, he requested a transfer to a small town on the other side of the province, and Alex had no choice to give up her career and leave with him. While Cam got used to being a beat cop, Alex found the clinic admin and the senior doctor were on the town council together and detested the new doctor. In the meanwhile, Cam and Alex slowly grew apart, with Cam always busy on police work (now that he's wearing a uniform as a beat cop). When the senior doctor dropped a knife and killed a guy during gallbladder surgery, he blamed it on "previously unknown heart defect." Alex threatened to go to the admin, but the senior doctor just laughed. When the nurse who was also there refused to testify (she has a family to care for in town), Alex found herself backed into a corner, as she contemplated leaving...I am not too sure what to think of this one. The way they grew apart was very nicely drawn, and the way their situation paralleled each other was exquisite plotting. On the other hand, the way the situation was resolved was all tell, no show (all handled in the epilogue).

Drastic Measures Doctor 911 Series Book 1 edition by Bobby Hutchinson Romance eBooks Reviews
Covers not only the what but also the why. This marriage is almost over just because of lack of communication. In the end the benefit of these decisions that were forced on this couple were a good thing. Husband says "We're moving" wife says w h a t????? But the problems arise out of not facing things together. All of them.
Bobby Hutchinson's writing style is engaging, and her character development is thorough. I was right there with the flawed characters, relating to every scene. I really enjoy stories that take place in the western Canadian provinces - like going home. I highly recommend this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone e who loves a good romance with some danger, some drama and lots of love. Cam is a police officer and Alex is a doctor. Their struggles and triumphs make this a book you don't want to put down. Can't wait for the next story-maybe David & Becky?
The story line was good. Lots of "wrong" words - so would have to read some sentences more than once to see what the word should be. I don't mean typos. Just wrong words -- i.e. than for them and than for then -- seems every time the typist typed "th" the word than came jup and no one corrected it. Does distract from reading. Thought the plot was good --showing that people have to make sacrifices in marriages to make them work. Also need to be responsible even if it mean getting another person in trouble even when they do deserve it. I have read other books of this author and she is a good story teller, but needs better proof readers.
What a pleasure to read a romance where a mature author uses her life experience wisdom to write about real relationships rather than escapist fantasy about heroes who don't exist.
After reading the other reviews I changed my rating to 5 stars - it was worth reading to the end - and all typos must've been fixed because I didn't notice any!
A great adventure into the lives of an ER physician and her husband, a policeman. Both of these professions are very demanding with long hours and difficult on-the-spot decisions. The story keeps you in much suspense after Sergeant Cameron Ross makes a big job decision, which eventually takes him to a small town city. Dr. Alexandar Ross was shocked her husband did this without consulting her first. Cameron does not tell her the whole story about his present undercover job or why he actually took this transfer. Cam moved to the new small town and Alex followed a few weeks later, very unhappy about the move. She really liked her ER position in the big city hospital and misses her previous co-workers. Their happy lives soon result in many difficult problems with little time to talk or work them out. This story is very well written keeping the reader anxious to keep reading.
I’m partial to medical drama, and love health care characters. I also really enjoyed that this was different than the “falling in love” romance; the hero/heroine were a married couple. Married myself, and both with careers, I know how hard it can be, and the author made the unravelling of their marriage realistic, compelling and touching. The book started a little slow, with the focus on the heroine’s brother, which kind of threw me off at first. And I really wanted a little more from Cameron’s point of view (this was really primarily Alexandra’s story), especially his childhood, but the way the problems in Alex’s marriage and in her job layered one on the other kept me riveted. Excellent.
